fight with DMOZ editors
November 14th, 2003
Had a massive argument with some DMOZ Editors last night . It all started with when i put a post in the Resource-Zone i.e the Forum where DMOZ editors answer querries related to site inclusions in the Open Directory Project . Based on a advice at Site Point (SPF) , i posted my querry at Resource-Zone . What i had asked was : my web hosting website is currently listed at a lower level i.e Country wise category in ODP , and i have multiple times submited in for a placement under the Main WebHosting category . Do i need to do anything more to get my site moved to this more appropiate category ? At the end , just on a humorous note , i had added “what kind of gifts do the editors like ” ?
Now this was taken in a very crooked manner by some over zealous Editors . Although 2- Editors gave a proper valid answer , the remaining started to bloat about Why I should not be talking about Bribes to get a better listing , that too on their turf :p
In spite of my repeated mentioning that it’s a joke …. get over it and reply to the proper valid querry … they continued to taunt me , and to top it off , one of the forum admins came in and asked me to apologise !! , and if i didn’t threatened to hamper my further submissions . Now , this got me real enraged and i gave a real “piece of my mind” to him , i mentioined that , not only would i NOT APOLOGISE , as i have done nothing unjust …. i dont care anymore as to where they place my site , since it’s clear that a proper and better placement in the ODP is based on how good i suck up to the DMOZ editors and not what’s in my website’s content …… !!
Now , on comes a second admin and Apologises to me and gives a load of shit about ….
And no editor worth his/her salt will pay any attention to what has been said here when reviewing your site (and they’ll probably not even be aware of it), we are supposed to be quite professional and cool-headed about submissions
Anyway , here’s the actual post , which is quite fun in reading : My Argument with DMOZ Editors at Resource-Zone forums
