Wordpress on Google
April 5th, 2005
Much has been written on / about Wordpress getting banned for cheating , on Google. I find it quite amusing . But first : the fact :
Yes, it is true that Matt , the developer / author of Wordpess , in order to get extra funding , had a section called wordpress.org/articles . This was used severely to create dummy articles , containing keyword stufffed text and links to weird site.
It is also true that this section has been deleted .
It is also true , that google had initially penalized Wordpress - the site for this , but not the full site . The so called Articles , with all its keyword spammed pages has been removed from google’s index.
Also fact , that this wont effect anyone using Wordpress for posting their own blogs using Wordpress software.
It is also fact that , Matt had gone on a holiday when the main hue and cry rose .
But in return to all of these , Matt himself explained about his actions and it’s repercussions, and Wordpress’s future plans in blog. Matt’s Blog
I personally feel , which i also wrote as a comment on Matt’s blog, that some people have all the time in the world to have fun at others expense , but no time to create something productive like Wordpress . ![]()

Wordpress Spams Google?
It looks like the Wordpress website is spamming Google. The links they put up were put in a hidden div, thus spamming Google for ranking.
