missing friends wedding anniversary

yesterday was a once-close friends wedding anniversary. now, i remember we used to be once as close friends as saif amir etc. in Dil Chahta Hain , maybe not from our childhood days , but definitely from our 1st year of college. Friends usually mean quite a lot to me , but in this case things have definitely gone the good way. Now it would be wrong for me to judge on a spur , as what comes in my mind is his last girlfriend or his sudden spate of luck with some ex-girlfriends. Not that they were always a bad influence on him , but in the past 5 years he has changed 4-5 girlfriends , 2 academic career choices , 4 jobs/career oppurtunities and is currently married , with a kid , and no job and still doing computer courses.

As i started , yesterday was his 1st wedding anniversary and today i found out that it was not just me who missed it , but almost all the friends of our group. Now , i am probably most at fault … as I missed it just out of not remembering to go , where as there were some who opted to go to another wedding reception, one did overtime in the office and another i think went out with his girlfriend :p Now , a wedding anniversary , as special as the 1st weddding anniversary , one probably would be celebrating in a big way , announcing it in earlier and ensuring that everyone is informed properly , as by now he is a family man …. not just a college mate. But no, as i found out ( including me) , no one was actually invited and yet expected to turn up. Now , someone might say ….. if we were once so close once , why should be need formal invitations . Reason is because , over the past few months or a year …. he hardly keeps in touch with us , even when he had the baby we actually found out by accident , and were not told and many more . It’s as if , he can do without us .

I have other friends , friends who live outside kolkata , who doesnt even get to come to kolkata maybe more than once in 2 months , and yet we somehow manage to stay in touch . So , comparing that i would say i am not exactly ashamed that i forgot that yesterday was his wedding anniversary which we missed
