Just Friends review

Just Friends Review ; Tagline : “  Moments like this have been ruining friendships for centuries ” .  I normally like this kind of movie , while in my school life, like numerous other guys I have been in the dreaded “friends zone” with girls we have had often crushes on. And hence i could easily associate with the movie or its basic theme. In this movie, the main protagonists are Amy Smart ( jamie palamino ) and Ryan reynolds ( Chris Brander ) are two high school buddies , best buddies …. to the extent she sleeps over at his house in pajamas , like Karishma and Shahrukj in Dil to Pagal hain ( i have serious doubts if that happens though outside reel life ). Anyway, early in the movie , when reynolds tries to express his deeper feelings to her , he gets exposed prematuredly and everyone makes fun of him . Because of this he runs away and becomes a stud , over the next 10 years and doesnt turn back till then.

As fate would have it, he gets back accidentaly and bumps into Jamie ( his childhood crush) but now he being the stud acts his newer self and makes numerous mistakes in judgement and act . History was , Chris felt extremely teased during his schoollife and somehow blames her and at times, tries to repay her for that and thus often looses the chance to win her over , even being a totally changed man now and even with Jamie having feelings for him. Anyway , that was too much about the movie itself.

#1 . As i said , being stuck in the friendszone myself quite a bit , i could associate myself with the film , yet somehow could not LIKE it. For one , there have been movies like this before and better done . Here the hero was like a total fool all throughout and even the final dialogue of his , which supposedly wins over the maiden was nothing near to great . It was as if a mixture of many oter dialogues. The character of Jamie was also created very oddly … being the nicest girl , why would she not like Chris initially , and even expect him to return for her when she was never interested in him until she saw he had a better figure ( she used to date football players earlier , if body was the concern ). What was the message in the movie …. even ? Was it  ” Guys , beware … dont get in the friendzone , or these are the warnings for coming close to the Friendzone ” ? OR , was it ” Girls , dont tease boys too much , or they will come back to take revenge and get into your pants ” ? I am still unsure.

 

#2 . A generic question for girls …. who may read this . Whats with the friendzone ? I am sure most of you always have had one or two of these so called “Best Friends” ,whom you surely do not like for dating . And , you will still always have MANY normal friends , so why the need for this special best buddy / friend ? Is it just for security , for the  times when you best bet may fail ? What are the things that you really can not share with your girl friends ?
