social networking websites

it’s been just a few days only now i have joined ORKUT . Orkut is an online community that connects people through a network of trusted friends It is also a Google.com partner site , hence obviously it is quite popular . Social networking websites nowadays are very much on the rise . Wikipedia says , the first of it’s kind was Classmates.com and after that first came Friendster.com Now , even though i frequent various forums and communities, i was not initially into social networking. I knew about Orkut long time back , personally the first such site i joined was probably MySpace .

Frankly , i didnt like it … it felt too much girly . But through Discusstv friends , i got initiated to Hi5.com. In Hi5, i made quite a few friends and got various testimonials but i dont get as much time nowadays to actually click through other friends in my friends network and interact with them as many of my friends there are much younger than me .

Whereas in Orkut , what did attract me or click for me was I found several of my ol Nava Nalanda High School friends , who were already in multiple NN communities . Another fun thing in Orkut is somethig called scrapping … a feature which allows posting messages on each others scrapbook of sorts . Another of my long long time back locality fiends ( who currently is in US of A ) found me via orkut and we finally chatted just only yesterday . So that way i would say creating a Orkut profile has been mroe successful than any other social networking sites ID’s . I am yet to find 2-3 mroe friends i realy hope to , however i am not sure how much internet savy they would be … from the time i knew them , they were not . But then in today’s world , i hope everyone is .
