police helps in kolkata wire theft

Today morning i read about a funny incident where the local police aided and helped some vandals steal large amounts of Telecom / telephone wires under their survelliance. according to the news reporters , after repeated requests from the locals the Telephone dept. sent some technicians and linesman to check how 800 phone lines were not working almost suddenly without notice.
According to the locals , a week ago a group of people dresssed as telephone workers came on a van requesting permission to dig the road to the local police station. The local Officer in Charge gave them full assurance , without due investigation that the police would not only allow them to make the digg , they would further keep survelliance so that their work went swiflty during the night time . Getting such confirmation , the vandals neatly dugg up large area and took out expensive wires that ran under the road , and after doing such even took time and caution to repari the road . Local people mused that such care should have brought the police to attention , since the govt. telephine workers never repair roads so deftly after going on a official repair work
In spite of the prolonged fault in their telephone lines, the local people are screaming that not only the police and telephone department are lacking in their work of repair , but also are trying to keep the shameful and disgraceful matter under wraps .
